Back to school - register for a pension workshop today

The crisp air of September signals that back-to-school feeling, even if it’s been years since you last entered a classroom. It’s a time of frenzied activity, renewed energy and enthusiasm for learning new things – like how to make the most of your pension. This fall, give yourself the gift of knowledge and sign up for one of our free pension workshops, held at various locations across BC.

Getting to know your pension

Nowhere near retirement? Not to worry; we offer pension workshops for different stages of life. If you’re just starting out, our free fifteen minute e-learning course Getting to Know Your Pension is a great introduction to the value and benefits of plan membership.

Making the most of your pension

Looking for a more in-depth course? Our in-person workshop Making the Most of your Pension tells you how important life events and the decisions you make throughout your career can affect your pension when you retire.

Other topics covered in this two-hour workshop include:

  • Buying service for approved leaves
  • Purchasing service for time when you worked for your current employer but didn’t make pension contributions
  • Transferring service from other plans
  • Using our online tools to plan for your future

This workshop is interactive, offers plenty of time for discussion and gives you a chance to ask questions. You’ll also receive a handbook you can take home.

Approaching retirement

If you’re approaching retirement and want a comprehensive understanding of the important decisions you need to make about your pension, sign up for our in-person workshop Approaching Retirement. Planning for retirement now can make your transition easier and help ensure your pension works for you.

Attend this two-hour workshop to learn more about:

  • Your best pension option
  • Life stages surrounding retirement
  • Retirement checklist
  • Retirement application process
  • Income and expense worksheets
  • Implications of returning to work

If you haven’t attended Making the Most of Your Pension, you might find it helpful to take that workshop before Approaching Retirement.

Register today

To ensure our workshops are interactive and to maximize your learning, space is limited to 35 seats. And, just like the cool kids, our workshops are extremely popular. They fill quickly, so register early to make sure you secure your seat. If the workshop you want to attend is full, you can be put on a waitlist. Or, you could take a workshop at an alternative location.

Your pension is an investment in your future – learn how to manage it and you’ll feel more secure in your financial goals throughout every season of your life.
