Lucas has served in many senior roles for the Province of British Columbia. He is currently the executive director of Workers’ Advisers Office, a branch of the provincial government that helps injured workers seek benefits under the Workers Compensation Act.

Lucas first became involved in pension issues as a labour and employment lawyer at Fasken Martineau, an international business law and litigation firm in Vancouver. On joining the provincial government in 2002, he was appointed to the Teachers’ Pension Board of Trustees, joining the Municipal Pension Board of Trustees in 2008.
