Take charge of chronic conditions using free Self-Management BC program

Self-Management BC offers free programs for British Columbians to manage conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic conditions. Chronic conditions are defined as long-lasting health diseases that require ongoing medical care and lifestyle changes. The program’s goal is to help those who are living with chronic conditions develop the skills and knowledge to live well with confidence.

Programs are offered in person, virtually, by mail and by telephone, and are available for adults living in BC, with specialized programs available for Chinese, Punjabi and Indigenous communities. Programs are free for participants and are government funded.

Improving Mental Health Checklist

The Improving Mental Health Checklist serves as a resource for those who want to prioritize strengthening their mental health through non-drug options. Special features include low and no cost treatment options without the use of drugs, and its ability to encourage members and their health care team to advocate for healthier lifestyles. It offers both a free version and a paid option, catering to members seeking guidance in areas such as physical activity, self-help strategies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), professional counseling, mindfulness, meditation and more.

Non-drug therapy can be a valuable tool in addressing and managing a wide range of mental health conditions and emotional challenges including depression, anxiety and insomnia.
