Bonnie Pearson retired as secretary business manager of the Hospital Employees’ Union in 2015. During her career in the trade union movement, she was involved in collective bargaining and contract administration. Extended health benefits and pension issues were two areas of focus for her work.

Following her retirement, she joined the Board of the Municipal Pension Plan, serving until December 2020 as the retiree trustee. She is currently second vice-president of the Municipal Pension Retirees’ Association. She was named a trustee to the Municipal Retiree Benefit Trust in 2021 and was appointed chair by the board of trustees.
