Tom was the president of the Vancouver Police Union and British Columbia Police Association (BCPA) until 2019. He continues in a representative role advocating for police personnel nationally. He has been the police representative at the Municipal Employee’s Pension Committee for over 20 years.
Tom was appointed to the Municipal Pension Board of Trustees by the BCPA and the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters Association (BCPFFA) in 2018. He has worked closely with representatives of the BCPFFA over many years on a variety of public safety municipal pension plan initiatives.
Tom was appointed to the board of the Municipal Retiree Benefit Trust in 2021.
